Frequently Asked Question's --- FAQ's

CAN WE COME VISIT THE PUPPIES?

This question is best answered by explaining, we did welcome visitors. We enjoyed showing the dogs to visitors who had many questions! However, we found ourselves so busy entertaining visitors we had no family time and the dogs were getting overwhelmed. Since we are not a "kennel" and our dogs are part of our family, visitors became to much too handle and made it impossible to have a family life. A few years ago we decided to stop the visitors and let our many references speak for us. We encourage everyone interested in our puppies to send us an email requesting our references. We want our new families to be completely comfortable with our adoption process.

CAN YOU TELL US WHERE WE ARE ON THE WAITING LIST?

We have no well defined places on our waiting list, we try to fit the best puppy with the right home. We only look at the date on the application if there is more than one equally great home requesting a certain puppy.

CAN YOU GIVE US AN IDEA OF WHEN WE WILL BE GETTING A PUPPY?

Honestly - No! I hear this question often and I have no answer. Many times people on our waiting list have submitted their application earlier than they actually wanted to adopt a puppy in hopes that they will be at the top of the list and considered first when ready to adopt. We've had many new applicants adopt a puppy within days or weeks of being approved. We usually only have 1 to 6 requests for any litter, no matter how many people are currently on our waiting list, so the chances of adopting in less then 6 months is very good.

DO YOU HAVE A LIST OF THINGS WE WILL NEED FOR THE PUPPY?

We sure do! -- That list and much more information is emailed when a $200 deposit is received.

WHAT ARE SOME GOOD BOOKS ON TRAINING?

I tell everyone to read, read, read and then follow your feelings. No matter how many books you read on dog training no two will be exactly alike or 100% correct. I don't really care for most training books so I have my own information packet that I give out to our puppy families. It has some basic training tips, ideas and more information that will help anyone raising a Schnoodle puppy. There is also tons of information online and in any pet store. We also wrote The Schnoodle Book which is a gathering of 18 years of information from different owners of ALL Schnoodles, not just Shelbo Schnoodles, all compiled into a complete book on Schnoodles. You'll find things like feeding, grooming, training and health issues that have been seen in the Schnoodle.

DO YOU KNOW OF A BREEDER IN MY AREA?

I no longer provide that information. We are in no way associated with any another Schnoodle or Schnauzer breeder. If someone tells you they work closely with us or are in some way using our information, etc... they're not being honest!

WHY ARE YOUR PUPPIES $1500?

There are many reasons...for one, the cost of raising healthy, happy, well-bred puppies has increased. We started on the internet as the first Schnoodle breeder with a website and we had to repeatedly defend the breeding of Schnoodles to anyone and everyone who questioned it. I spent endless hours on the phone, in e-mail, and on our website providing answers and facts to educate new breeders and the public about carefully breeding a mixed breed dog and how to make a well-bred, quality Schnoodle. We accepted many interviews about the Schnoodle - giving interviews to some very popular and some not so well-known newspapers, television stations, and radio. Probably the most well-known paper interview being in The Wall Street Journal (August 2002). We continue to lead the way in providing real Schnoodle facts and information. Information that we researched with ALL Schnoodle owners so that the information was generalized and not about one or two particular breeders puppies. We continue to look for helpful info that we can share with all Schnoodle owners...maybe in the form of another book or a revised edition some day very soon : ) With all that we have done and continue to do we feel our unmatched commitment, efforts and time are worth something. Have a look at the other breeders adoption fees and ask yourself these questions: What has this particular breeder done for the Schnoodles in general? How long have they been breeding? Do they offer the detailed information available on the Shelbo Schnoodle site...if so where did they get this information? Please consider the fact that most of the Schnoodle information found on the internet and elsewhere was written by Shelbo Schnoodles on our first website. We are proud to be such an important part of the past and future of the Schnoodle. We also purchase the best dogs to breed, feed a super premium food, give top notch medical care, offer a two year health guarantee (which wasn't heard of when we started doing it!), continue to further our breeding program and NEVER just make do with the dogs we have, if they are not 100% health, temperament, structure and personality of what we want to pass on to our puppies, we do not breed them. Our puppies have the most consistency in health, personality, structure and beauty because we are picky about the dogs we breed. You will find most Schnoodle breeders are either just some backyard breeder putting any two dogs they have available together or breeders of multiple different breeds out to make a quick dollar with no concern for the outcome of their puppies. The buyer ends up with a unhealthy, ill tempered and lacking in good structure...leading to one health problem after another. Only the best dogs can make the best puppies.
